Surgeons who dedicate a significant part of their practice to thyroid and parathyroid surgery, regardless of practice setting, can now choose to obtain a Focused Practice Designation in Thyroid to emphasize their clinical interest, skill set, and dedication to the field. Patients and referring physicians, including endocrinologists, can seek out surgeons who have obtained the Focused Practice Designation in Thyroid. Although this designation does not encompass all surgeons with expertise and dedication in the management of thyroid and parathyroid disease, it offers referring physicians and patients a clear indication that the designated surgeon maintains a concentrated scope of practice and a demonstrated commitment to excellence in this subspecialty.
